Wasson High School is a part of the Colorado Springs Unified School District. Roy J. Wasson High School was established in 1960 and named after one of the longtime superintendents of Colorado Springs School District Eleven. The 28.2 acre campus has a diverse population of 1482 students. Wasson’s mascot is the Thunderbird. Wasson is a comprehensive high school which has been recognized at the state and national level for educational innovation.

Wasson is also the only high school in District Eleven with a dance studio, a one-of-a-kind multimedia classroom, a video production room, a professional quality audio recording studio, a 25 station CAD lab, and a music lab with 20 computers equipped with Midi keyboards.   Wasson has 8 computer labs used by teachers in all content areas and also computers in the classrooms. The athletic programs are a member of the Colorado Springs League class 5A (4A football). Wasson has won 10 state championships.

Mitchell High School

The name ‘Billy Mitchell’ still raises the blood pressure of retired soldiers and sailors and quickens the pulse of airmen today. He was, of course, not the only American theorist concerned with the future role of the air forces, but he was the most prolific in his writing and spearheaded a public crusade for an independent air force.  A man of action as well as words, Mitchell’s bombing exhibitions on German Warships in 1921 and his court marshal in 1925 are the well known events in his life.  But it was Mitchell’s ideas and personality which left an incredible stamp on American airmen and the general public.

This 350 seat luxurious space was renovated in 2002. Outfitted with a near catalog of Protech equipment, the venue was nominated as the best theater in Denver 2010.
